Computer Death 9000

Posted in: Life, Photography

So I applied on these Linux admin jobs because honestly I know I can do them. Linux, to me, is no more difficult than DOS was. Some may disagree. I say that anything that is basically a skill can be learned. Either way I never felt there was that big of a curve.

So I go to sleep intent to wake up, install Linux, and reaquaint myself. Except that’s not what happened. During my ever so badly timed slumber, some unknown oddness of death happened to my computer. It froze the router, and now I’m having IDE and SATA issues. So RMA for cross ship from EVGA this next thursday.

Tax season is here again to rape some of us and grant some of us a new thing or two. I’m getting the latter, after last years camera death fiasco, I am now buying a Nikon D80! Comes with the kit lens thats 18-55 and the usual 4.some to 5.some aperture. But I’m buying with it, a Nikon 70-300 f/4.5-5.6 AF-S VR. For those who do not know this lens is pretty awesome for the $470 they ask. Vibration reduction alone is worth it, but the glass is well known for it’s clarity, and it’s got fast focusing, and good aperture considering it’s range. Equivalent to right around 400mm in film.

You know my family used Nikon’s in my youth, and I guess I grew into that brand. I did go and spend time looking at Canon’s and Pentax’s. Holding them, taking store shots, but the Nikon wins me over, every time. I won’t make excuses though, this last round of cameras disappointed me on features but, then I want my cake too so…

Beyond that, new host is way better and served on Linux… ahem It’s Linux day… I get a free pack of gum and 1/2 pint of orange juice everytime I find a good reason to say Linux.

New graf going on. Hopefully alot more of that in the time to come. Some writing coming up too. Also I’m once again starting up the Hot Summer Beer and T-shirt Designs Shop. I love screenprinting to good music on summer nights, after some grilling. I wish I had more of those days. There seems to never be enough. Cause it’s those nights that stay with me, those nights that make it what I call living. No real fights or drama just laughter and buzzes. I never remember those nights at parties where whats-his-face got in that fight and made an ass of himself and those one girls were fighting. I fondly remember those good nights though.
